Law firms and other professional service firms are taking a hard look at their current budgets and have started discussing and planning for 2022. As companies slowly move their personnel back into the office, a lot of extraneous expenses have come under scrutiny and are causing some firms to move or contemplate moving to a hybrid work environment. This is leaving HR with the complicated task of devising new methods to manage people. (Mentoring new attorneys or CPAs also becomes difficult if they are not in the office, but I will save this topic for another blog post.) Casually walking the halls to make sure people are doing their work is no longer possible. So what is HR to do in this situation? Here are three tips to get you started:
- Rewrite job descriptions that lend themselves to the working at home aspect.
- Set specific communication protocols and standards.
- Reorient people to the new expectations.
