The Oculus Experience
Anyone who really knows me, knows just how much I love video games and games in general (think board games, cards, other arcade games such as ski ball, etc.). My love started with Ms. Pac-Man and Monopoly then morphed into Super Mario Bros. and Clue which I still play all of these games from time to time. But no one game nor one person could prepare me for my first experience with an Oculus. Wow! I was absolutely blown away once the headset was on my head. I couldn't believe the clarity and crispness. I couldn't believe the 3D realm that surrounded me. What's more...this was just me playing pingpong (the formal name of the Oculus game is "Eleven Table Tennis")! I admit it. I played "Pong" on an Atari 2600 years ago. The Oculus experience was nothing like I had ever imagined...My captivating Atari game went from dot matrix to full blown 3D. It even appeared that I was actually holding a paddle in my hand and standing in someone's living room with a beautiful view of the mountains just beyond the window panes. Another wow moment for me! Just a few days ago I read that a large law firm had bought retail space and is building an office in the Metaverse (aka Meta). I thought that is a different approach to working with clients and innovative on so many different levels. It is really is a game changer! (Pun intended.) Time will tell what will happen with the Metaverse but I can say the Oculus experience is unique and the Meta is probably here to stay. I applaud Arent Fox for branching out of the ordinary and doing something different and extraordinary.
