I attended the Legal Marketing Association's New Orleans/Baton Rouge City Group's General Counsel Panel event yesterday. Three prestigious general counsel from Louisiana based companies shared their insights about marketing and business development with the audience which consisted of legal marketers and private practice defense lawyers.
My three major takeaways include:
- Subject Lines/Headlines matter! When sending newsletters, make sure the subject line pops out to include key relevant info.
- When sending newsletters, keep the info pertinent and on topic. The shorter the better as they get hundreds of emails a day.
If they call with a question, respond that same day even if it is to say I need a little more time to research the issue.
I've heard general counsel speak throughout my 20 year career in legal marketing. This is the same sentiment that I have heard across the board during my tenure. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the event. The New Orleans/Baton Rouge City Group leaders always do a fantastic job of carrying out these events!
